Course Description: 

Advanced Art handling techniques for curators and museum staff. Receiving, storage, display and tracking of fine art pieces is presented by a subject matter expert.

The Instructor:

Brent Powell has designed, organized and conducted programs of “best practices” on the subject of collection care principles since 1991. These workshops and classes have been affiliated with prominent art organizations and at a wide variety of national and international venues. Brent is currently the Chairman of PACCIN (Preparation Art Handling, Collection Care Information Network), a professional Interest Committee of AAM. He has been an active member of PACCIN, in various capacities, since 1991. In conjunction with PACCIN he has co-authored, compiled and edited three publications and has written for other publications within AAM and the museum industry. Brent Powell is employed with Artex Fine Arts as the Senior Project Manager for the relocation of the National Museum of Health and Medicine. His extensive career in museum services includes many prominent organizations. Brent holds the MFA in Painting from the University of Arizona.
