Special Talks

May 2, 2012 - A Special Evening Talk from 5-6pm

This upcoming May 2nd "Print Room Peeks" talk will center around interesting intaglios.  Examples from the Housatonic Museum's collection will include a drypoint by Mary Cassatt, an etching by John Taylor Arms, an engraving by Philippe Mohlitz and several works by both Stanley William Hayter and Gabor Peterdi.  Hayter was founder of Atelier 17, one of the most influential and innovative printmaking workshops of the 20th century.  Peterdi was a product of that workshop and went on to write Printmaking Methods Old and New, a text that became the standard technical reference for printmakers.

The HMA Collection...

link to ScheiberThe Museum has one of the most significant collections of any two-year college in the country and includes works by master artists such as Rodin, Picasso, Matisse, Miro and Chagall. Both art enthusiasts and casual observers have the rare opportunity to engage daily with original works of art and artifacts on continuous display throughout the College and campus grounds. The Museum also presents lectures, programs and changing exhibitions in the Burt Chernow Galleries for our students and the community at large, serving as a rich cultural resource for the Greater Bridgeport area.
