Smith. “Added to these will be students registering for non-credit courses offered by the Continuing Education department.” “ All in all, we wouldn’t be surprised to see 1,500- 2,000 students pass through the doors of the college this week,” Smith said. “ The festive atmosphere will provide students with some genuine entertainment as they go through the registration process,” he added. “It will also give them exposure to the fun side of College life.” On Wednesday, Jan. 19, during the 2:30-6:30 p.m. registration slot, representatives of radio station WEBE will provide a “WEBE108 Keating Ford Cash & Prize Mustang” visit to the college, handing out “WEBE Freebies.” Set to visit the college Thursday, Jan. 20 during the 2:30-6:30 registration slot will be personalities from popular radio station KC101, who will entertain the students with audience interaction and music, while passing out a wide variety of prizes. With an eight-year-old campus in the heart of Connecticut's largest city, Housatonic is one of the country's fastest-growing public community colleges. Since it moved to the new campus in January 1997, HCC's enrollment has increased 77 percent. According to the most recent statistics released by the Washington D.C.-based American Association of Community Colleges, HCC is the second fastest-growing community college in the Northeast and its fastest-growing in terms of full-time students. The Northeast includes New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In response to increased enrollments and changing workplace needs both regionally and nationally, HCC has increased the number of programs offered from 43 to 63 since moving to the new campus. The campus is located at 900 Lafayette Blvd in downtown Bridgeport, less than 150 yards off I-95 (exit 27) and Rte. 8 (Exit 1) and a block from the Arena at Harbor Yard.
