HCC OPEN REGISTRATION STARTS AUG 3

BRIDGEPORT – Housatonic Community College will hold fall semester open registration starting August 3.

Registration sessions will be held at the Bridgeport campus Wednesday, August 3, 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.; and Thursday, August 4, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Students are encouraged to register early to get the courses they want.

Registration sessions will also be held Monday, August 22, 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, August 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Wednesday, August 24, 2:30 -6:30 p.m. and Thursday, August 25,  10 a.m.-noon. A special registration session for senior citizens and high school partnership students will be held Thursday, August 25 from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

“Courses are expected to fill up fast,” said Academic Dean Anita Gliniecki. “We strongly encourage students to come in early and complete the application process to ensure they get the courses they want”

As has been the case in the past, HCC will offer day, evening and weekend courses. The daytime courses are tailor-made for traditional students as well as adult students who work afternoons and evenings, while evening courses are ideal for students who work a traditional day shift.

This semester, HCC will offer some 40 courses on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 20 courses on Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.  These courses are ideal for students who work rotating shifts during the week or have child- or elder-care responsibilities that prevent them from attending classes during the week.

This year, HCC will offer classes at two off-site locations: Jonathan Law High School in Milford and Ansonia High School in Ansonia. These locations are ideal for students from the Naugatuck Valley and Southern New Haven County areas who would find it difficult attend classes in Bridgeport.

The courses to be offered in Milford  are Principles of Macroeconomics (Mon, 7-9:45 p.m.); Principles of Microeconomics (Wed., 7-9:45 p.m.); Composition (Mon, 7-9:45 p.m.); Composition (Wed, 7-9:45 p.m.); Literature and Composition (Mon, 7-9:45 p.m.); U.S. History I (Wed, 7-9:45 p.m.); and General Psychology I (Wed, 7-9:45 p.m.);        

The courses to be offered in Ansonia are  Introduction to Business (Thurs, 7-9:45 p.m.); Principles of Macroeconomics (Tues, 7-9:45 p.m.); Composition (Tues, 7-9:45 p.m.); Literature and Composition (Thurs, 7-9:45 p.m.); U.S. History I (Tues, 7-9:30 p.m.); Intermediate Algebra (Thurs, 7-9:45 p.m.); General Psychology  I (Thurs, 7-9:45 p.m.); and Principles of Sociology ( 7 to 9:30 p.m.)

Additional open registration sessions will be held Monday, August 22, 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, August 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Wednesday, August 24, 2:30 -6:30 p.m. and Thursday, August 25,  10 a.m.-noon. A special registration session for senior citizens and high school partnership students will be held Thursday, August 25 from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

Eligible students can also register by dropping off a completed registration form and payment in the drop-box in the HCC lobby through Aug. 12, mail or fax (through Aug. 5) or online (through Sept. 1). For more information, contact 203-332-5100 or 203-332-5088.
