HCC STUDENTS CONDUCTINGWATER DRIVE FOR HURRICANE VICTIMSBRIDGEPORT -- Students at Housatonic Community College are conducting a water drive to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The drive, being coordinated by members of HCC’s new Student Ambassador Program, will be held Sept. 6 -16 at the college. At that time, faculty, staff and students, as well as members of the general public, will be able to drop off bottles of spring water at the college. “The water drive is our students’ way of giving back to the community,” said Dean of Students Lisa Montgomery. “It’s the type concern for other people that we as a college encourage and that makes us proud of our students.” During the drive, people can drop off containers of spring water - six packs or larger, - at the college from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. They can be dropped off at Room A110, the Dean of Students office; Room A108, the learning support center; Room C110, the student life office; and Room A102, the evening division office. The main information desk can tell you which drop-off points are open at any given time. The water will be delivered to an area Armory for shipment to the storm-ravaged area, Montgomery said. HCC’s student ambassadors serve as goodwill ambassadors to the community. |
