HCC TO OFFER CLASSES IN MILFORD

MILFORD – As part of its ongoing effort to make a community college education more accessible to students who live and work in South Central Connecticut, Housatonic Community College is once again offering classes at Jonathan Law High School.

The courses to be offered are required in many programs at the college. They’re ideal for students who want to begin or continue their higher education.

“The classes make the commute to college much easier for students who live and work in the New Haven area,” said HCC spokesman Anson C. Smith

Jonathan Law High School is one of two satellite HCC campuses, with Ansonia High School being the second. In the Spring, 2007 semester, they’ll be joined by Seymour High School, where a course in manufacturing processes will be taught. That course is part of the college’s industrial technology degree program.

The courses to be offered include Introduction to Nutrition, Wednesdays, 7-9:45 p.m.; Introduction to Criminal Justice, Mondays, 7-9:45 p.m.; Introduction to Early Childhood Education, Wednesdays, 7-9:45 p.m.; Principles of Macroeconomics, Mondays, 7-9:45 p.m.; Principles of Microeconomics, Wednesdays, 7-9:45 p.m.; Composition, Mondays, 7-9:45 p.m.; U.S. History I, Wednesdays, 7-9:30 p.m.; General Psychology I, Wednesdays, 7-9:45 p.m.; Principles of Sociology, Wednesdays, 7-9:45 a.m.; and Elementary Spanish I, Mondays, 7-9:45 p.m.

Courses are expected to fill up fast, Smith said. “I would strongly encourage students to come in early and complete the application process to ensure a slot in one of these courses,” he said.
