CULTURE OF THE DEAF FOCUS OF HCC PERFORMANCE
BRIDGEPORT – The Culture of the Deaf will be spotlighted Thursday, Feb. 19 when Sign-Language Storyteller Eileen Dulen-Jennings makes a two-part appearance at Housatonic Community College.
Dulen-Jennings will conduct a workshop with HCC Theater Arts students from 2 to 3:15 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center in Lafayette Hall on the college campus. At the workshop, she and students will develop a performance piece. At 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center, the piece developed in the workshop will be performed and Dulen-Jennings will give a solo performance.
The events, which are free and open to
the public, are being held as part of the college’s Third Thursday
Cultural Celebration series. During most months in the academic year,
a performing artist representing a specific culture comes to the college
on the third Thursday to develop and perform a piece with Theater Arts
students and give a solo performance.
The college is located at 900 Lafayette Blvd, Bridgeport, less than
150 yards off I-95 (Exit 27) and Rte, 8 (Exit 1) in downtown Bridgeport,
a block from the Arena at Harbor Yard. For more information, contact
Prof. Geoffrey Sheehan at 203-332-5270.
