Dear Friends,
Fiscal year 2002-2003 brings with it the end of my term as President of the Housatonic Community College Foundation. The past three years, while challenging, have been most gratifying and I look back with a great deal of satisfaction on the progress and accomplishments of the Foundation.
The Board of Directors has worked tirelessly to support our fundraising endeavors. While the Foundation has not escaped unscathed the vagaries of a weakened economy and the uncertainties of these times, nevertheless, our fundraising capacity has continued to grow and in fiscal year 2002-2003 support for the Foundation’s work has surpassed all previous years.
The Board of Directors, our community friends and all of our donors
deserve special thanks for their commitment to the College and the
students it serves.
Our base of support continues to grow, reflecting the growth of the
College and the educational opportunities it provides to its constituencies.
Scholarship support in 2002-2003 surpassed $84,000. Grant funding for
special projects reached $67,075. In addition to scholarships, grant
funding supported the Early Childhood Laboratory School, the Housatonic
Museum of Art, the Noon Concert Series, on-going tutoring services
for students and a myriad of programs and projects in need of funding.
The Foundation is positioned for a smooth leadership change. Our Strategic Planning Committee, with the unanimous support of the Board, has outlined a clearly defined set of fundraising goals in its next three-year strategic plan. The Foundation’s efforts to recognize the College’s thirty-five years as an institution were well received and financially successful. We face an exciting challenge in the near future when the College embarks on its expansion plans for the campus. I am confident that my successor, with the help of all of us on the Board of Directors and the support of the communities we serve, will continue our odyssey of growth and support for Housatonic Community College.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, please accept my sincere thanks for the outpouring of support that you continue to demonstrate for our mission. It has been a privilege to serve as President of this worthwhile organization.
