Scholarships & Awards
Housatonic Community College Foundation Scholarship – awarded on the basis of financial need, academic achievement, and community/college service to students who have completed at least nine credits at Housatonic and are in good academic standing.
Barden Foundation Scholarship – awarded to two students continuing their education in science, including computer science.
Burt Chernow Scholarship – awarded to a graduating student who demonstrates academic achievement and financial need and who plans to major in art or art education at a four-year institution.
Kim Thibodeau Chiaraluce Endowed Scholarship Fund – established to provide funds for a young woman attending the College on either a full- or part-time basis, who demonstrates academic achievement and financial need.
Connecticut Women’s Forum Endowed Scholarship Fund – established to provide funds for women students with financial need who are enrolled in Housatonic’s two-year degree program.
DeMattia Family Scholarship– established to assist incoming students from area high schools who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.
Paul Doane Scholarship – established in memory of a Housatonic lab assistant and awarded to a student continuing his or her education in computer science, mathematics or engineering.
Jeanne DuBois Scholarship – awarded to a graduating student who demonstrates academic achievement and financial need and who plans to continue studies in art or art history.
Marguerite Sullivan Dunigan Endowed Scholarship Fund – awarded to a student who is a single mother and currently attends Housatonic.
The Flint Prize – awarded to a graduating student who has achieved the highest academic average while at Housatonic and has qualified for the Academic Dean’s Award.
The George Scholarship Fund – awarded to a graduating student in the computer science associates degree program who demonstrates academic achievement.
President Edward J. Liston Endowed Scholarship Fund – awarded to Housatonic students enrolled in one of the College’s two-year degree programs and who demonstrate academic achievement or financial need and involvement in extracurricular activities.
Robert Gerard Naples Scholarship – awarded to a graduating student in the math/science program who has demonstrated academic achievement and who plans to go on to complete his or her Bachelor’s Degree.
Elizabeth Pfriem Endowed Scholarship Fund – awarded to Housatonic Foundation scholars. A Housatonic Foundation scholar is a current HCC student in good academic standing who demonstrates financial need and has completed nine or more credits at the College with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
The William H. Pitt Foundation Scholarship - awarded to students who are attending Housatonic Comunity College full time (12 or more credits per semester) and who will graduate within two years of receiving the first scholarship award.
Frank J. Scallon Foundation Scholarship – awarded to a graduating student or students pursuing an education in the field of psychology or medicine at a four-year institution in the state of Connecticut.
David Susskind Memorial Scholarship – awarded to a graduating student in the behavioral sciences who plans to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in political science, history or public administration.
Dale Ward Endowed Scholarship Fund – awarded to the highest-ranking graduating students planning to continue their education. This scholarship complements the HCC Senate Scholarship named in honor of Professor Emeritus Dale Ward.
Weller Collegiate Scholarship – awarded to an incoming student from Monroe, Newtown, Easton, Shelton or Trumbull who demonstrates financial need.
The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation Scholarship – Given to a current HCC student who is currently employed, preferably at a Subway Restaurant. Student must demonstrate success in all areas of academic achievement, participation in extra-curricular activities and financial need.
The Southern Connecticut Gas Company Community Scholarship – Awarded to a current full or part time HCC student who has completed one year at the College. Preference will be given to a student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who demonstrates financial need.
The Joyce Gerber Early Childhood Education Endowed Scholarship – Presented to a student graduating with a degree in Early Childhood Education and with the highest grade point average among graduates of the Early Childhood Education Program, who plans to transfer to a four-year college.
Salvatore Curiale Scholarship – Established in memory of the Director of Admissions at Housatonic and presented to a student continuing his or her education in nursing.
