HCC “Community Service Day” Sat., 4/21
Volunteer at United Congregational Church
Day To “Give Back” Part of White House Campus Initiative
BRIDGEPORT – Housatonic Community College faculty, staff and students will roll up their sleeves Saturday (April 21) to “give back” to the community. As part of the first “HCC Day of Community Service,” the HCC volunteers will contribute their time to working in the community gardens, food pantry and clothing closet at the United Congregational Church, 877 Park Avenue. Members will spend about 55 minutes working in each area. The group will meet at HCC at 9 a.m. for opening remarks, and then march to the church. The program is being held in conjunction with the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge, an initiative in which institutions of higher education commit to a year of interfaith and community service programming on campus. Housatonic, which was invited to participate by the White House, chose a project that focuses on health and healthy living, and includes a broad range of programs and activities to promote this among the diverse population of the campus and community.
