Focus: Bringing Manufacturer, Resources Together

8- 11:30 a.m., Events Center, Beacon Hall

BRIDGEPORT ‑ Housatonic Community College will hold its 2nd Annual Manufacturing Summit Wednesday, June 26 in the Events Center in Beacon Hall.

The focus of the summit will be on bringing manufacturers and resources together. Manufacturers will be on hand to explain how they were able to access and utilize various programs available to help them while representatives of various organizations will be on hand to explain their support services.

Among those resources are Housatonic’s Regional Advanced Manufacturing Center and Strategic Solutions Group. These can pay $15-$20 per hour. HCC’s Strategic Solutions Group offers area businesses needed customized job training programs.

“Manufacturing in the area and the nation is leading economic growth,” said Bill Griffin, HCC’s academic coordinator, who spearheaded the drive for the new manufacturing center and the program. “Through the application of state-of-the-art technology, manufacturers are more competitive and they need to hire more skilled workers with advanced manufacturing skills.” HCC’s Advanced Manufacturing Program is designed to meet this industry need.

The Manufacturing Summit will be held 8-11:30 a.m. in the Beacon Hall Events Center. The event is free and open to the public.
