BRIDGEPORT - Housatonic Community College President Anita T. Gliniecki of Monroe has been awarded the Susan L. Davis Women’s Leadership Award from the Bridgeport-based Women’s Leadership Council

Gliniecki, who has served as Housatonic’s president since 2006, was selected from a slate of nine nominees for the award, which honors a local businesswoman who is a leader in her field and highly engaged in the community. In announcing the award winner, Davis described Gliniecki as “a very talented leader.”

As HCC president, Davis noted, Gliniecki has focused on student success and community partnership, with an emphasis on workforce development. “Anita’s efforts were instrumental in securing the grant that brought one of Connecticut’s three advanced manufacturing centers to Housatonic and the Bridgeport Region,” Davis said.

“Housatonic’s Advanced Manufacturing Center is a critical component of economic growth in the region,” she added. “As manufacturing activity in the region grows, center will help that growth.”

Active in the community, Gliniecki serves as president of the Bridgeport Rotary and chair of the Bridgeport Higher Education Alliance. She serves on the boards of the Bridgeport YMCA, The Workplace, the Bridgeport Public Education Fund, the United Way, the Business Council of Fairfield County’s Education and Business Leaders, the International Women’s Forum, and Juneteenth. She is a former member of the National Commission on Academic, Student, and Community Development of the American Association of Community Colleges.
